They counted again the following morning. Cream: forty-three. Dark: three.

The session was not repeated. The discrepancy is in the file. The file notes that no one entered the storage room between counts. The file does not resolve this.

The materials lead examined the four dark segments under standard lighting. She filed one observation: "These four are not the same age as the others." She did not specify older or younger. She did not respond to the follow-up request.

The Queen acquired this from a tailor who, when asked about the dark marks, said: "I didn't put those there."

The tailor has not been recontacted. The Archive has not explained why.
