KROWN doesn't explain its acquisitions.

Three people have slept on this pillowcase.

The first was the Archive's materials lead. Standard assessment protocol — one night, controlled conditions. She returned it the following morning without filing a report. When asked, she said she'd file it later. She hasn't.

The second was the Queen. She didn't ask permission. She brought it back the next day and said nothing about it. The field log for that night has no entry.

The third asked to be the third. She had read neither report — because neither report exists. She asked anyway. She slept on the front side. She said in the morning that she'd dreamed about a clock. She was asked what time it showed.

She said: "It didn't have a face. Just the hands."

She hadn't seen the back of the pillowcase. The Archive confirmed this. She was shown the back after she spoke.

She looked at it for a long time. Then she said: "That's not what I dreamed."

Her statement is in the file. The file is not closed. A fourth assessment has not been scheduled. The queue, for the first time in the Archive's record, is empty.
